Midfielder Erik Thommy (27) joins the United States after leaving Stuttgart. At MLS club Sporting Kansas City, the former Augsburger, who was loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf by VfB in the meantime, has received a two-year contract, which the Missouri club has the option to extend until the end of 2025. After the end of his contract in Swabia, Thommy can change without a transfer.

“It’s a big step for me in my career,” said Thommy. He is looking forward to the MLS move to “a league that has developed significantly in recent years. This club has great fans, great equipment and a great stadium. I want to do my best for the team and I’m up for the challenge.”
