It was already reported in mid-May that Knauff and the SGE agreed on staying after his one and a half year loan. In Dortmund, the U21 national player, whose market value is estimated at 10 million euros, was originally under contract until 2024. After a steep climb last year, Knauff’s development has faltered a bit in recent months, and he also had to deal with injuries in the first half of the season. Under the new Frankfurt coach, probably Dino Toppmöller, Knauff wants to attack again and is said to have declined requests from the Bundesliga and Premier League.
