NEURUPPIN/BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – According to initial information, police and public prosecutors have carried out searches in at least six federal states against climate protection demonstrators from the “Last Generation” group. Apartments and other rooms in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony were affected on Tuesday. Some of the federal states were named by the group. Apart from Leipzig, however, no specific location was initially revealed. According to investigators, there was also a search in Cottbus.
There were searches of eleven members of the group, according to the “Last Generation”. Five of these members are currently in prisons in so-called preventive custody to prevent further acts.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, investigations are being carried out into disruption to public services and suspected formation of a criminal organization. The reason is therefore several attacks by climate activists on plants at the refinery PCK Schwedt (Brandenburg). Among other things, the oil supply was interrupted. A criminal organization could be formed if the accused repeatedly agreed to commit crimes.
The group replied: “For a year we have seen intimidation, attempts to stop our actions, attempts to silence us. We have been verbally abused, convicted, imprisoned.
