The 62-year-old man was sitting on a chair next to the ring when he was struck by the bullet, a 7kg metal ball, from Kuwaiti athlete Ali Zankawi. He decided to abort his attempt at the last moment, but the bullet went through the protective net and landed squarely on the right leg of the official, who was immediately taken to a hospital. According to Chinese media, his condition is stable and he will undergo surgery for a broken fibula.
