Officer who shot two people in Paris charged with intentional manslaughter | Abroad

The French police officer who shot two people near the Pont Neuf in Paris on Sunday has been charged with, among other things, intentional manslaughter.

That qualification applies to the driver of the car, according to a judicial source. For the death of the passenger of the car, the officer was charged with “deliberate violence by a representative of government authorities resulting in death, without intention”.

The facts took place in the night from Sunday to Monday in the center of the French capital. The car drove into traffic and drove at high speed towards the officers. As a result, they felt compelled to open fire on the vehicle.

The two men who died were known to the police for drug offences. A third person, who was in the back seat, was injured in the incident.
