An officer got glass shards in her eye on Wednesday morning when she and a colleague were helping in a breakdown. This happened shortly before eight o’clock on the A4 at the Randweg-Oost near Bergen op Zoom.
There was a breakdown van in the emergency lane. The officer and her colleague offered help and were waiting for the tow truck. Suddenly a gray Opel Zafira speeding past came into the hard shoulder. The car hit the van as it passed. During that action, the driver of the Opel broke his wing mirror.
To the hospital
The shards of glass ended up in the eye of the officer, who could no longer see. During the treatment in the hospital it was found that there was little damage to the eye.
Both agents went after the Opel Zafira, but could no longer find the Opel. The police are looking for the driver of the Opel.
