Officer breaks his hand while stopping an aggressive speeding driver

The arrest of a 33-year-old Tilburg citizen who drove recklessly through the city on Wednesday night did not go smoothly for the police. One of the officers broke his hand when they handcuffed the aggressive man on Nachtegaalstraat.

The man came into the sights of the officers on Generaal Smutslaan in Tilburg. Due to his dangerous driving, the man was stopped. He ignored that and took off at high speed. The man’s flight became a chase with several police cars. According to the police, the Tilburg citizen performed all kinds of dangerous antics.

“The man drove through the built-up area at one hundred kilometers per hour and swung into parked cars,” the police wrote on its website. “He even ended up losing his left front tire, causing him to continue driving on just the rim.”

The Tilburg citizen had to leave his car on the Nachtegaalstraat. He hoped to outrun the officers on foot. That failed. The officers caught him and arrested the man. Due to the man’s strong resistance, an officer broke his hand.

The man ended up in a cell where he was told that his driver’s license had been taken away and he is suspected of insult, assault, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
