OFC ready for debut in second division with nine new players

The selection of OFC is as good as complete for next season. After the championship in the third division, the club from Oostzaan will make its debut in the second division. Trainer Pieter Mulders has already welcomed nine new players.

“We have a slightly larger group next season,” says Mulders. “Last year we encountered the man with the hammer in terms of injuries. We looked for a combination of young players and experience.” The selection consists of 22 field players and three goalkeepers. Last season, the team from Amsterdam had twenty field players at its disposal.

The new names are: Fernando Lewis, Danny Prins, Joël Amakodo, Fouad Belarbi, Derrin Wijdenbosch, Maxwell Frimpong, Mustafe Bare, Demio Walberg and Daniel Agyei. Despite the acquisitions, Mulders knows that it can be a difficult season. “You have to be realistic. I’ve been around for a long time and you know that it will be difficult in the second division. Our first objective is simply to maintain.”

Departing players and new assistant

There are also players leaving OFC. For example, goalkeeper Mike Grim goes to ADO ’20, so the Oostzaners are still looking for a keeper. The North Hollanders also said goodbye to Sonny ten Hoope, Soufian Akouili, Edip Biberoglu, Derwin Martina and Beer de Vos.

In addition, assistant coach Bert Blank is leaving OFC. He becomes a second-class trainer at DIOS from Nieuw-Vennep. His replacement is Said Moumane who comes over from AFC. “I’m very happy with that,” says Mulders. “He is very experienced and knows the hat and the edge in the second division.”
