Obus at Festival Dranouter camping: DOVO cleans up jumping gear

Around 5.20 pm a report was received for a explosive device that had been found in Dikkebusstraat in Dranouter. Upon arrival, it turned out to be a shell at the festival campsite.

“There was a risk of explosion” (police)

A perimeter was immediately demarcated and the DOVO demining service was called in. “Obuses in the Westhoek, that is nothing new in itself, but this one still had a head which means that there was still a real danger of explosion,” said police spokesman Glenn Verdru. “That’s why we didn’t take any risks.”

The mine clearance service came to pick up the explosive device.
