Nika Prevc won the “Two Nights Tour”. Eva Pinkelnig won the day in the New Year’s competition. Agnes Reisch was the best DSV jumper.
Nika Prevc has published the first issue of “Two Nights Tour” won in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf. At the New Year’s competition in Oberstdorf on Monday (01/01/2024), the 18-year-old’s fifth place was enough for the overall victory. The day’s victory was won by the Austrian Eva Pinkelnig (272.10 points), who shortly before had competed in their first competition of the season in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Abigail Strate from Canada (269.40) and Eirin Maria Kvandal from Norway completed the podium (261.60).
Reisch as eleventh best German
The best DSV jumper was 24-year-old Agnes Reisch. The 24-year-old, who actually jumps in course group 1b, was eleventh, better than Selina Freitag (13th) and Katharina Schmid (16th). Reisch was even in tenth place after the first round, but couldn’t quite confirm his strong performance in the second round. She landed there at 115 meters.
Close competition for overall victory
Nika Prevc, leader in the Tour’s overall classification, was in sixth place before the finale. Their cushion of 13 points after the victory in Garmisch-Partenkirchen had melted, but had not yet been used up. Her lead over Eirin Maria Skvandal was 6.6 points. It held up. And the Canadian Abigail Strate was no longer able to attack the lead either.
Schmid only in 14th place
Katharina Schmid came to the “Two Nights Tour” out of shape in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf. After finishing twelfth at the first tour stop, she now landed in 16th place. In difficult conditions, they performed jumps of 120 and 113 meters, which were not enough to place in the top ten. “Not so cool”Schmid summed up on ZDF. “With 20 plus points you can’t really start flying. I’m not jumping well enough for that to matter to me. It’s tough, but it’s going in the right direction.”
Selina Friday felt the same way. 123 and 119 meters were not enough – for a place in the top group and for your own requirements. In the end, Friday came 13th. Pauline Hessler (20th), Juliane Seyfarth (25th), and Anna Rupprecht (26th) also started in the final round. Pia Lilian Kübler missed out on making it into the top 30.
