Rookie Nyara Sabally (23) won the first duel with her older sister Satou (25) in the US professional basketball league WNBA. With New York Liberty, the newcomer celebrated a 102:93 in the “Sister Act” of the German national team over the Dallas Wings around the experienced Satou Sabally, who is playing her fourth WNBA season.
Satou Sabally, the best German basketball player, scored weakly from the three-point line, but scored 17 points in 37:36 minutes. Most recently, the Berliner had regularly broken the 20-point limit. Nyara Sabally took just one throw in 8:43 minutes and failed to score (four rebounds).
Player of the day was Liberty star Breanna Stewart with 32 points. The American last played in the WNBA break with Satou Sabally for Fenerbahce Istanbul, the duo won the Turkish championship and the EuroLeague title.
Although the Sabally sisters played on the same college team in Oregon, injuries and the corona pandemic prevented them from sharing a basketball court earlier. “The last time we played together was at a school tournament, I think,” said Nyara Sabally before the family duel.
