With the third win in a row, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers have set course for the playoffs in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
Two days after the 4: 3 coup against defending champion Eisbären Berlin, the team around DEL record scorer Patrick Reimer defeated the Straubing Tigers 4: 3 (1: 1, 2: 1, 1: 1) and consolidated seventh place in the table. Sixth place and thus the direct qualification for the quarter-finals are getting closer and closer.
Nicholas Welsh (4th), Tyler Sheehy (23rd), Daniel Schmölz (34th) and Oliver Mebus scored the goals for Nuremberg in his 400th DEL game (48th).
For Straubing, still eighth, only Taylor Leier (16th), Jason Akeson (24th) and Marcel Brandt (51st) scored despite numerous chances.
