Nura: Appearance at Pro7 canceled after “Free Palestine” post – this is how she reacts

The rapper appeared on social media in front of a “Free Palestine” poster.

Nura was actually supposed to be a guest on “Late Night Berlin” on Tuesday (October 10th). But ProSieben quickly canceled her appearance after the musician shared an Instagram story that left a lot of room for interpretation. Nura has now responded to the rejection.

In the post, she and her crew stand in front of a poster with the words “Free Palestine” painted on it. The image itself is a screencap from the music video for her new song “FUBU” and could be interpreted as PR. But the post came just a day after Hamas’ first attacks on Israel.

No platform for “Hamas supporters”

The announcement that Nura would appear as a guest on Klaas Heufer-Umlauf’s show followed only a short time later and immediately caused an uproar online: As a “Hamas supporter”, as some call her, the station should not offer the rapper a platform. ProSieben apparently took note of these criticisms – on the same day a spokesman announced: “Nura will not be a guest on ‘Late Night Berlin’ on Tuesday.” However, there was no justification for this.

Nura’s statement on Instagram

Nura also came forward with a statement on Sunday afternoon. Against a rainbow-colored background, she wrote on her story: “When I watch the news and see people who are suffering, I don’t make any distinctions based on their origin, gender, sexuality or religion. Suffering is suffering.”

“War, however, is never a solution, and I am not an advocate for what is currently happening,” the rapper adds. “My family fled the war. We know firsthand how traumatizing something like this is.”

Finally, she emphasizes that her video appeared before the events of the last few days – and she is sorry “if I hurt anyone who was affected by it.”
