The Young Lions WC camp group played their first training game. The result was a fair 5-1 victory over Slovakia in the match played in Halmstad.
Jypin Jere Lassila hit 2+1 power points.
– From the beginning, we took the game and put pressure on Slovakia’s end. In the first round, there were not as many places as in the second and third rounds. We had control in the game.
– Of course, it’s nice to have successes in training games as well. Hopefully the mood will remain the same until the World Cup tournament, Lassila stated to Iltalehte.
From a taxi to a playing group
The head coach Lauri Mikkola will announce the final race team on Friday.
At the games at the turn of last year in Canada, Lassila, Aron Kiviharju and Niklas Kokko were the team’s extra players, i.e. the so-called “taxi squad”.
Playing time was not blessed, Lassila got it in the games starting on Boxing Day.
– I hope I’m in a different role now and I can lead the team. I hope I get a result, that’s the goal.
Action moment of the second set
Goals in the Slovakia game were scored only in the second period. Lassila took Kasper Halttunen pass to give Finland a 1-0 lead in 25:37, but Slovakia conceded the goal just 51 seconds later.
Ässien’s Lenni Hämeenaho has already scored 11 times in the League, and scored again, scoring the second goal of the Lions. Chain friends Konsta Helenius and Janne Naukkarinen fed.
HIFK’s Aleksanteri Kaskimäki immediately scored Finland’s third goal, Lassila caught the pass.
After Finland’s third hit, Slovakia changed goalkeepers. Samuel Urban came off and Rastislav Elias got a shift.
During the action moments of the second period, the game saw four goals in two minutes and 14 seconds.
Choose at the goal
Lassila also scored Finland’s 4-1 goal in the final set.
Oiva Keskinen scored the fifth hit. TPS’s Noa Vali played in goal.
Finland will play its second training game on Thursday. The Czech Republic will meet.
After that, the team returns home for a while and travels to the games early in the morning of Christmas Day.
– Christmas is spent with family, loved ones and good food. In the evening I will transfer to Helsinki and in the morning we will fly to Gothenburg, says Lassila.
