The number of people on unemployment benefits in Drenthe has increased for the first time in months. This is reported by the UWV benefits agency. At the end of September, there were 4,237 benefits, 1.2 percent more than a month earlier. Despite the increase, the labor market remains tight.
According to the UWV, there are major differences between the sectors. There was an increase in the number of unemployment benefits in the retail trade, wholesale trade and care & welfare, while a decrease was noticeable in the construction, cleaning and chemical industry. Compared to September last year, the number of unemployment benefits is more than 25 percent lower.
