Almost a week after the earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border area, the number of deaths from the disaster has risen above 35,000. In Turkey, the number is at least 29,605, the state news agency Anadolu reported today on the authority of the Turkish disaster relief service Afad. According to the WHO, significantly more people have died in Syria than previously established: about 5,900.
