Residents around the Ermerstrand feel unsafe due to the presence of migrant workers on the site. Measures have therefore been taken at various parks to counteract the nuisance.
There are a total of four parks. Ermerstrand, Primo, Secundo and Ermerzand. Especially on Primo and Secundo people live permanently. The largest park, Ermerstrand, is home to the most migrant workers and is located at the back of the site. Migrant workers therefore regularly walk across Primo and Secundo to move towards the main entrance. With all its consequences. Martin Smith, president of the Home Owners Association, is fed up. “There is noise pollution, I found used syringes, the migrant workers drink a lot and leave their rubbish lying around.”
The residents take the measures themselves, because they say that they do not have to expect that from the municipality of Coevorden. “They are busier with the Vital Holiday Parks project, as a result of which owners are evicted here.” The relations there are therefore skewed, according to the residents: “Recently a labor migrant was stabbed to death here, but nothing is done about it while decent residents are chased from their property.”
Alderman Steven Stegen (BBC2014) would like to comment on this: “We want a park where recreation is number one. In this context, permanent residents are indeed being asked to find other accommodation. But we also understand that the housing market is difficult in this context. moment and so we do that in certain phases. Not only permanent residence, but also the housing of labor migrants at holiday parks is included in this.”
Smith holds the municipality of Coevorden responsible for the nuisance: “I read in the newspaper that dogs would be monitored. I’ve never seen those dogs.”
The chairman therefore wants to see action from the municipality. “I read that they were proud of the fact that they chased five neighbors of ours from the park. Those are people who have it neatly done. Let them tackle the nuisance first. In my opinion, that is priority one.”
Despite the fact that the Vital Holiday Parks project is in full swing, this does not mean that nothing will be done about the nuisance, Stegen says: “It is clear that there is supervision and that we are in close dialogue with each other to put an end to the nuisance. nuisance.”
