More security, fences and accelerated procedures for safe landers. These are the measures with which State Secretary Eric van der Burg of Asylum and Migration wants to tackle nuisance and crime in the asylum seekers’ center in Budel. “It is completely ridiculous that the police have to act two hundred times at the asylum seekers’ center in three months,” said the state secretary on Wednesday.
The police had to intervene in small cases, but also in crimes such as stabbings. “Certainly if you know that it concerns a small group of nuisance causes, that is ridiculous,” says the state secretary.
Van der Burg spoke with Mayor Roland van Kessel, King’s Commissioner Ina Adema and representatives of the COA on Wednesday afternoon. The outcome of the conversation was tougher measures to curb the nuisance and crime.
‘Quick turn off’
“People from safe countries are partly responsible for the nuisance and crime. They never receive a residence permit, but are entitled to a procedure. The nuisance causes and the criminals are placed on top of the pile so that they can be deported quickly.” says the Secretary of State.
“The other people at the asylum seekers’ center, the residents of the asylum seekers’ center and the entrepreneurs in the Cranendonck municipality want to get rid of these people quickly. They don’t feel safe.”
Fences against illegal immigrants
There will also be fences around the asylum seekers center in Budel. “The fences are intended to keep illegal immigrants and other people who do not belong here out of the area. The police and the Public Prosecution Service are also looking into prohibited possession of weapons and other things that are not possible.”
The COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers) will also deploy extra security at the asylum seekers’ center for the safety of the residents of the asylum seekers’ center and the residents of Cranendonck.
