Nuis wins speed skating gold for Netherlands

Beijing (AP) – Speed ​​skater Kjeld Nuis has won his second gold medal at the Winter Olympics. The flag-bearer of the Dutch team won the decision over 1500 meters in Beijing in 1:43.21 minutes.

In doing so, the 2018 Olympic 1000m champion improved on the 20-year-old Olympic record set by Derek Parra (USA), who ran 1:43.95 minutes at the Salt Lake City Games.

At the same time, Nuis won the third gold medal for the Netherlands in the fourth competition and set the fourth Olympic record after his compatriots Irene Schouten (3000 m) and Ireen Wüst (1500 m) and Sweden’s Nils van der Poel (5000 m).
