Kjeld Nuis had one chance at an Olympic title at the Winter Games. Four years ago he became champion in the 1,000 and 1,500 meters, but this time he had only qualified for the latter distance. Nuis seized his only chance and extended his Olympic title. There was silver for Thomas Krol.
