Nuclear plant staff warned Russians via loudspeaker: “You are endangering the whole world” | War Ukraine and Russia

“Stop firing at a dangerous nuclear facility,” an employee shouts from the control room. “The vital parts of the power plant can be disrupted. It will be impossible for us to recover that. Stop shooting immediately.”

Western countries have strongly condemned Russia’s violent takeover of the nuclear power plant. A fire broke out in a training center of the plant during the attack. The nuclear reactors remained intact. “One of the six reactors still supplies power, four others are being cooled,” Ukraine’s nuclear authority said.

The nuclear power plant is the largest in Europe. About 20 percent of all Ukrainian electricity is produced there. That makes the plant a strategic target for Vladimir Putin.
