The Italian thinker, professor of Italian Literature at the University of Calabria, in Rende, He published his latest book in Spain earlier this year, ‘Men are not islands’ (Cliff)which closes a cycle dedicated to classical culture, humanistic knowledge and ultimately to the art of good living, which inaugurated in 2013 with “The utility of the useless”, an essay that earned the name of bestseller with its translation into 24 languages and after being published in 33 countries.

An essay that, as Ordine himself recounted to La Nueva España, from the Prensa Ibérica group, defends that “today, a conception prevails that only considers useful what generates money, but many other things are needed to nourish the spirit human, such as music, literature or philosophy that do not generate economic margin and that contribute to making a more humane society”.
Ordine, who was probably the world’s best-known contemporary Italian essayistpresided over the International Center for Telesian, Brunian and Campanellian Studies, in Cosenza, and collaborated with the Italian Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at Harvard University.
