NS trains are running according to the timetable again after a major failure

The trains of the Dutch Railways are running again according to the normal timetable. A technical malfunction ensured that no NS trains were running for a large part of the day yesterday.

According to a spokesperson for the NS, the trains are running almost normally again after yesterday’s major IT failure. However, it is possible that people today will still notice some of the problems of yesterday. For example, the length of trains can deviate from what travelers are used to during their journey. Also, the type of train may be different than usual.

Technical failure

The IT failure occurred around 12 noon and, according to the NS, it affected the system that makes the current schedules for trains and staff. Although the technical malfunction was resolved during the day, train traffic could not be started. The system had to be updated and trains had to be brought to the right place.

During the night, the first trains between Amsterdam and Schiphol ran again.
