After the major IT failure that brought train traffic in the Netherlands to a standstill for a long time on Sunday, trains will be running as good as normal again on Monday morning.
“A train has failed here and there, but in principle we have just started normally again,” says a spokesperson for the NS.
Traveler notices after-effects of malfunction
The spokesperson says that people may still be able to notice a few things from the misery of the day before. For example, trains can be longer or shorter than travelers are used to on a particular route. The type of train can also deviate from what normally runs on a route.
Outage since Sunday morning
The failure occurred on Sunday at the end of the morning and, according to the NS, it affected the system that makes the current schedules for trains and staff. At the end of the day this had been rectified, but it cost the NS a lot of effort to get everything back in order. The first trains did not start again until 01:00 in the night from Sunday to Monday.
