NS: scheduled timetable normally driven

The planned timetable of the NS for the parts of the Netherlands where there is no strike on Wednesday, will be driven as good as normal on Wednesday morning. Due to the strike, a single train was canceled in this other part of the country on Wednesday morning, but around 08:00 there was no further train interruption, according to an NS spokesperson.

Employees of the Dutch Railways went on strike in the Northern Netherlands on Wednesday from 4 a.m. to 4 a.m. the next day. Due to the action, virtually no NS trains will be able to run all day on Wednesday in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and parts of Flevoland and Overijssel, the carrier reported earlier.

According to the NS spokesperson, it is quiet at the stations where there are no trains. “There are no details to report at those stations. Travelers seem to be well aware that there are no NS trains.”

The carrier had previously indicated that it would make an effort to run a number of trains to and from Groningen and Leeuwarden. That intercity, which goes from the Randstad via Zwolle, does indeed run, according to the spokesperson. The NS could not say how often the intercity runs on Wednesday morning. “The advice to people who want to take the train is: check the journey planner for when it runs.”

Trains that would normally go to the north of the country now return to Almere Oostvaarders, ‘t Harde and Olst. Other carriers in the area affected by the strike are operating. The Travel Information Group 9292 informs the planners on the website and in the app that it will show alternative travel advice with other public transport companies where possible.
