An NS spokesperson reports that all possible causes of the explosion are being investigated. She can’t say anything about the investigation yet, nor can she estimate when more becomes clear.
The spokesperson does not know how the injured person is doing, but according to the first message from the safety region to the NS it was not too bad. The travelers who were stuck on the train had to wait about an hour for an evacuation train. This brought them to Alkmaar.
To hospital
Last night around 8.20 pm an electricity box exploded in a train at Limmen, near Castricum. The train stopped because the electricity had to be removed.
The electricity cabinet was behind a wall, which partly shot away through the explosion. One person was injured and had to go to the hospital. Three others became unwell after smoke had inhaled. They were treated on the spot.
For a moment there seemed to be a fire, but that was not the case. Only smoke was released during the explosion.
