NS conductors at Amsterdam station harassed and spat at by a group of men | Inland

The NS speaks of the “another unacceptable incident”. The women filed a police report on Thursday. The NS wants the perpetrators to be traced as soon as possible: “As far as we are concerned, they will never get on the train again and they will be banned from public transport.”

A spokesperson for the NS: “We are handing over the camera images to the police today. These perpetrators must be tracked down and brought to justice and as far as we are concerned, they will never travel by train again. The impact on our staff is very large in these types of incidents and can be traumatic. The women involved are offered all possible care. As an employer, we cannot accept that our people are being attacked in this way.”

‘screaming’

An Amsterdam traveler, who does not want to be mentioned by name, tells De Telegraaf: “These guests got in in Utrecht and were all jittery and bored the whole time. There was an intimidating atmosphere about the group. It’s awful to have to travel home in fear after work. I also heard screams of fear, possibly from the conductor. When I saw that the NS women on the platform were being attacked very aggressively, I went there with more passengers. We stood between the scolding group and the conductors. Like other travelers, I was also spat at. I think it’s the worst for the conductors, who are just doing their job.”

‘All hell broke loose’

According to the NS spokesperson, the eight men were in first class: “To charge their phones, they said. When a conductor asked for a ticket, she was immediately scolded. They were then ordered to get off at Amstel station.” The traveler: “And all hell really broke loose on the platform. Those guys went completely nuts.”

After the incident, the eight men fled. The NS hopes that they can still be traced on the basis of camera images.
