Frans Klein is currently on non-active as the big television bobo of the NPO. His involvement in the De Wereld Draait Door scandal is being investigated and in the meantime he is expected not to work. Apparently he doesn’t feel like it anymore: the NPO now confirms his departure and there were already rumors about a transfer to Talpa.

NPO thanks Frans

The date on which Frans officially leaves NPO is August 1, which is a few weeks before the start of the new TV season. “Frans Klein says goodbye to the NPO at a time when the NPO has embarked on a new path and we, together with the broadcasters, are developing a new strategy,” says the remaining boss Frederike Leeflang.

She continues: “We thank Frans for his great commitment, involvement and significance to the programming of the public broadcaster over the past 36 years. We wish him all the best in his further career.”

Departure for Talpa

It seems only a matter of time before Talpa confirms that he will be working there in place of retired bobo Erland Galjaard, Wendy van Dijk’s husband. Of course, it says a lot about John de Mol’s media company that they are working with a controversial figure who is still the subject of an investigation.

Sylvana Simons previously called it ‘difficult’ that Talpa just goes into business with this man, but the reason is easy to guess: money. According to TV expert Tina Nijkamp, Frans will earn twice as much money at John de Mol’s company. A few months ago, he already gloated about the salary of another Talpa bobo in a restaurant.

Matthew too?

The media editors of the AD do not rule out that Frans’ good TV friend Matthijs van Nieuwkerk also follows him to Talpa. That company has no problem with controversial figures and hides tirelessly behind the presumption of innocence.

Angela de Jong has strongly advised against Matthijs: “The idea that if Frans Klein goes, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk will follow, is of course not completely crazy. But it would be really stupid.”
