Filip Uremovic (26), who was signed as a hopeful last season, is already gone and is now defending for Hajduk Split. His departure could be fortunate for Hertha-Talent Linus Gechters (19).
Hertha’s U19 national player (9 international matches) was recently left out by coach Pal Dardai (47) and has only played once against HSV (0:3) – albeit in the unusual position of left-back.
Now he is scheduled to play as a central defender again, but has to step up his game in training to get more playing time. Gechter has the prerequisites for this. He has a strong header game, is a goal threat with set pieces and is also convincing when it comes to building up the game.
On the other hand, the duel is still in need of improvement. Sees Dardai similarly: “He wants to play football on the pitch, not just defend it, that’s good. Now he has to become even stronger and snappier in two fights.”
If he takes that to heart, Linus Gechter will have more playing time after Uremovic’s departure.
