Imagine that Pixar has decided to make a film about the most chaotic racing of nature – namely the race of sperm a cell. “Spermageddon” is basically that, just not from Pixar (which would never dare to do this despite all the adult topics, but from Norway.
Like a Trailer shows that it is absolutely not child -friendly here. What happens in “Spermageddon”? There are Jens and Lisa, two teenagers who finally get closer and sleep together for the first time. Sounds romantic at first, but the actual action happens elsewhere.
“Spermageddon” looks like “Everything stands head” into the body
In both in the inner world, both are raging. Jens’s sperm are on their mission to reach the egg cell. The film is also the story of the brave sperm Senmen, which with its peers embarks on a roller coaster ride through the female body. To get to the goal, you have to overcome a lot of obstacles and trick rival sperm.
Of course, that doesn’t just sound like “everything is head” in a different body region, it is also a slightly silly parody on the two films, the second of which became a real blockbuster.
In “Everything is head” we experience the emotions in the head of the little Riley as an independent characters. Joy, anger, disgust and Co. argue about who takes control while Riley tries to cope with her move. In the sequel, Riley is already a teenager – and in her head there are far more complex emotions.
At “Spermageddon” you don’t laugh with emotion and everything is of course coarse, even if the sperm shows as much team spirit and cleverness such as the pixar emotions.
The film celebrated its premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 10, 2024 and has been seen in Norway and in other Scandinavian countries since February 28, 2025, where it developed into a hit in a few days. An official theatrical date for Germany is currently not announced.
