The biathlon season in Russia is once again plagued by an embarrassing mishap. This time affected: the suits. After several athletes complained about this, the manufacturer has now admitted a production error.

Bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps remain the order of the day in Russian biathlon. As Dmitry Savinsky, head of the national outfitter company, had to admit in the “Championat” interview, his company provided suits at the start of the season that did not meet the quality standards.

“I have to admit that there was actually a production error in this delivery for the national team,” said Savinsky, referring to the past races in Khanty-Mansiysk, where numerous athletes complained that the suits were not suitable for the freezing temperatures and did not fit well on the body.

However, the head of the manufacturing company also put things into perspective: “The suits are a very subjective topic. What is good for one athlete can be bad for another. But we always seek communication with our athletes and try to solve problems as quickly as possible.”

Manufacturer measures biathlon stars individually

To ensure that the problem does not arise again in the future, the manufacturing company sent a few experts to Khanty-Mansiysk to measure each biathlete individually. According to Savinsky, this data will now be digitized and taken into account when producing the next suits so that such a mistake does not happen again.

The faulty suits add to a whole chain of mishaps in Russia so far this season. Many biathletes complained several times about the quality of the ammunition and the skis. A Russian Cup race had to be postponed after there was a power outage at the facility.
