The 41-year-old Icelander started his coaching career in his own country and was later appointed coach of the national women’s team. In 2018, Alexandersson started working as an assistant for the men’s national team.
Freyr Alexandersson moved to Lyngby in Denmark in 2021. Under Alexandersson, Lyngby was promoted to the top flight of Danish football. Last season, Lyngby secured an extended stay in the highest division. Lyngby is currently 7th in Denmark.
KV Kortrijk will therefore only be his second assignment in a club context. Alexandersson will be introduced later today. From January 6, he will travel to Albir on a winter internship and will lead the training sessions there. The current technical staff will be fully retained and will be further supplemented with assistant coach Jonathan Hartmann.
