This is already the fourth infection with bird flu of the H5 type this winter. The first infection was detected in Diksmuide on December 1. The second infection occurred a week later in a laying farm within the protection zone that was introduced after the first infection. Last Tuesday, a third infection was diagnosed in Alveringem.
On December 9, a shielding obligation for poultry from professional keepers and hobby keepers was introduced.
The FASFC also strongly advises private keepers to span their enclosure to avoid contact with wild birds. Feeding and watering the animals must be done indoors.
