“Now Alfonsín”: this is the documentary that reviews the role of the “Father of Democracy”

Now Alfonsin: 40 Years of Democracy”, the special documentary that DIRECTV premiered on October 13 on OnDIRECTV and on DNEWS, is an authentic historical testimony about the democratic transition in 1983 that followed the bloody military dictatorship, a turbulent moment that was led by the radical president and who laid the foundations for the institutionality that remains to this day.

In an emblematic year for Argentine democracy, DirecTV Latin America He presented this documentary at an event that was attended by more than 500 personalities from the social, diplomatic, political and business spheres.

The preview of the audiovisual piece was presented in the Yellow Pavilion of the La Rural property in Buenos Aires, in an auditorium decorated with images from the early eighties that reflected the moment in which the institutional values that gave support to the solid Argentine democracy.

Now Alfonsin: 40 years of Democracy”, immerses viewers in the exciting chapter of the democratic transition in Argentina in 1983, starting from the failure of the dictatorship, whose hallmark was the Malvinas War, and the desire of the Argentine people for a change of order . A process full of challenges that was led by Raúl Alfonsín, who went down in history for his commitment to human rights and democratic restitution.

The Photoshow It was assembled with pieces from the renowned photographer Daniel Yaco, who was arrested during the dictatorship and lived in exile until the return of democracy, when he witnessed that time of change. “The presentation of this documentary leads us to enter the institutionalization process that President Alfonsín promoted and disseminated throughout the region,” said Adrián Werthein, main shareholders of the Werthein Group, owner of the communications company.

“Alfonsín was a transcendent man because he laid the foundations of the institutionality and saved the lives of thousands of young people who otherwise would have taken up arms. His pacification action must be remembered and disseminated,” the businessman continued.

The event was marked by reflection and expressions of dismay and requests for justice and peace in the face of the bloody terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas against Israel. In that sense, Werthein highlighted that remembering the Argentine democratic consolidation process, admired throughout the world, allows us to “reflect today on the values ​​and role of international organizations and the real power of sanctions against those nations that finance and promote the terror and nothing happens.”

After Adrián Werthein’s words, the guests saw the trailer of the documentary specially prepared for the occasion and a conversation panel was held about the content of the piece, in which historians participated Camila Perochena and Jorge Ferronatoin addition to the documentary director Diego Guebel.
