Novak Djokovic and Boris Becker had formed a successful partnership for three years, the Serb feels connected to his ex-coach – and expresses moving words on the sidelines of the French Open.
World number one Novak Djokovic is suffering with Boris Becker, who is in prison. “It breaks my heart to see him going through this phase,” said Djokovic during the French Open in Paris. “I’m just sad that someone I know so well, who I consider part of my family and who is a legend in our sport, is going through what he’s going through.”
Becker was Djokovic’s coach from 2014 to 2016 and celebrated numerous successes with the Serb. “We had a great relationship, even after we worked together,” said Djokovic. “I was in contact with Noah, one of his sons, to ask if I could help in any way,” Djokovic said. “I hope he survives this in health and stays strong.”
Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for delaying bankruptcy. The three-time Wimbledon champion is currently in prison in London.
