Until next season
Last autumn and spring, top striker Ivan Toney (27) from Brentford FC made headlines for violating the betting rules of the English Football Association (FA). A months-long ban followed until the beginning of next year. Now the next professional from the Premier League is admitting violations of this kind. Harry Toffolo (28) from Nottingham Forest admits according to several reports in England (via “The Athletic“) Offenses occurred in 375 cases. The left-back will not play any more games this season.
Between January 2014 and March 2017, Toffolo broke the rules, which not only resulted in a fine of more than £20,000, but also a ban until the 2024/25 season. At the time in question, Toffolo was under contract with training club Norwich City without really getting his foot in the door with the professional team. He was loaned out a few times and came to Huddersfield Town over several spells, where he made his breakthrough.

Nottingham then paid 2.4 million euros for the services of Toffolo, who played 19 first division games, last summer. There has only been one short appearance in the EFL Cup this season. The FA had already made the accusation against the professional from Hertfordshire.
