He also often performed at places where Hoogeveen was also present. “Later I often met him in the Hoofdstraat and he always greeted me so friendly. I thought he still knew me, but he really did this to everyone. Such a nice and nice guy.”
It was not a difficult choice for theater De Tamboer to create the memorial corner. In consultation with the Karst family, it was quickly decided to organize this in the theater. Because it is a central place and played a role in Karst’s life.
“He meant a lot to Hoogeveen,” says director Pieter-Bas Rebers. “Ask anyone in the Hoofdstraat about him and you will get plenty of stories. There is also a lot of attention for him online, which is really crazy and rightly so.”
The man who came to write a card still looks back on what kind of person Karst was. “A very pleasant man. Just act normal, because then you’re acting crazy enough. If you met him you could always talk to him. Unfortunately not anymore.”
Until Wednesday, people can leave a note in De Tamboer during the day. On Wednesday itself, the doors of the theater are also open from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM for the public farewell. Afterwards there will be a private part.
