“This is more than we expected”: AFAS Dome boss Jan Van Esbroeck sees with dismay the doubling of VAT on festival tickets

The cultural sector has also not escaped the budgetary exercise of the De Wever government. Festival tickets, among other things, will face a VAT increase, rising from 6 to 12 percent VAT. Jan Van Esbroeck, the big man behind Be-At Venues (the entertainment group behind, among others, the AFAS Dome, the Lotto Arena and Vorst Nationaal), responds tepidly: “We are prepared to contribute, but this hurts more than expected.”
