Not to be dissuaded: a lonely Protestant even spends the night in Hilversum watching television guide

Piet van den Berg, the angry Protestant who has been holding a ‘sitting protest’ in Hilversum since yesterday to claim his right about a newly received television guide, takes his issue seriously. In protest, he even spent the night in front of the M building in Hilversum. He is still very angry. Also because the police tried to get him away.

“Last night wasn’t very nice,” says the lonely Protestant. “The police made me sit in my car last night, otherwise I would receive a large fine. Then I think: man, what are you doing? I had to go back to Dordrecht. I said: I will not!”

Van den Berg has been sitting on a white garden chair along the road since early Monday morning. He has had a subscription to TrosKompas for years, but in recent months it has not been delivered a few times. After phone calls to the broadcaster, he received the guide a few days later, until last week. Then nothing came through the bus at all.

To demand

According to AVROTROS, he has now received a new TrosKompas, but that is not yet enough for Van den Berg. “I demand a travel allowance of 30 euros. I also want a telephone number that I can always call for free if I have not received my guide.”

It is not the first time that Van den Berg has protested in this way. A few years ago he protested for four years for the office of health insurer Achmea to get his money back. Years earlier he did the same for the police station in his hometown, because he felt that he had been unfairly expelled from the office. Even the corps management apologized for that, but that didn’t go far enough for him: the officers involved had to do the same.
