The plans of the municipality turned out to be too big for Uitgeest’s wallet. The council wanted three roundabouts, but in the end there will be one, at the intersection of the Geesterweg with the Castricummerweg. Road users react to the arrival of the roundabout.

A spokesman for the municipality says how residents are involved in the plans for the roundabout. “Various participation evenings have been organized for residents in connection with the planning. The roundabout has always been included in the plans, and residents have been able to respond to this from the start of the planning.”
“The reason that this roundabout was chosen is that previous traffic research has shown that this place is the most unsafe situation on the Geesterweg,” said the spokesperson.
The map above shows the intersection where the roundabout will be.
The spokesperson also says that a lot is possible for residents when it comes to contact with the contractor. “During construction, KWS Infra is the point of contact for local residents. They work with an app in which residents can find information and make reports. They can also call the KWS area manager directly if there are any questions or complaints.”
On March 7, a walk-in evening will be organized at the town hall where residents can receive information about the construction of the roundabout. If everything goes according to plan, the roundabout will be ready around the turn of the year.
