Not the entire textile sector in trouble: “many job opportunities before layoffs,” says Fedustria

Wall-to-wall is no longer popular, not even in the United Kingdom, which was traditionally a strong sales market. But that does not mean that the entire sector is doing so badly, says Fa Quix of Fedustria: “There were important interior design fairs in January. And the echoes there were very good. People expect a lot of improvement.”

Technical textiles are also doing very well in West Flanders. Companies such as Sioen, Seyntex and Concordia are growing strongly and that is why that segment is already more important than that of interior textiles.

New job opportunities

The latter may be good news for those who lose their job at Balta, they think at Fedustria. “The good thing about this accident is that there are a lot of job opportunities,” says Quix. “In many sectors, including textiles, wood and furniture in the region. In fact, they can get started quickly. They are sought after because they have certain capabilities that are sought after in that labor market,” Fa Quix reassures.
