Not real snowflakes, but Drenthe still turned a bit white

Grum, sugaring or moth snow, words of what some people in Drenthe saw fall down this morning. Here and there, places in our province were given a light white tint. We can’t call it real snow, but several winter enthusiasts couldn’t resist taking some nice pictures.

Despite the small amount, RTV Drenthe weatherman Hans Nienhuis reacts enthusiastically. “Some grum suddenly fell from the gray blanket. I received reports from Paterswolde, Assen and Coevorden, among others.”

The little winter tease is short-lived. “Today it is 2 degrees above zero, but it feels like -2 due to the cold wind. Next night we will also stay just above freezing, with a small chance of some wet snow,” says the weatherman.

Temperatures will rise in the coming days. Hans Nienhuis: “In addition, we will get a little more showers and on Tuesday and Wednesday it will be about 5 to 7 degrees. The nights will remain above zero. But then the wind will change, the air will become cooler and there will be a slightly wintry return. .”

Can the snow lover hope for a somewhat thicker layer than today? “Maybe”, says the RTV Drenthe weatherman. “During the day we will have a plus of three degrees at the end of this week, light frost at night and sometimes some precipitation. And that may also be with a slight winter accent.”
