Boston’s season in the NHL has started clearly better than expected.

The Boston Bruins, who broke the NHL regular season points and win records last season, weakened really radically in the summer. Two of its key players retired from the team, when both Patrice Bergeron that David Krejci ended their great careers.
Boston’s number one and number two centers from last season played their entire NHL careers in the same club and became real cult players in Boston.
In recent seasons, both Bergeron and Krejci embodied Boston’s extremely disciplined way of playing. Losing perennial number one and number two center forwards at the same time would be a huge blow to any team, but for Boston, the significance is even greater in principle. However, it is worth making a small observation about the team’s winning streak and goal difference from the point of view that, measured by expected goals, the early season has been some kind of overperformance, with the combined expected score for Boston “only” 14–13.
On the night before Monday, Boston will face Anaheim, who is predicted to be right at the bottom of the Western Conference. Anaheim’s season has started somewhat as expected, with the team winning only one of its four games. Even with a weakened base, Boston is clearly a stronger team than Anaheim.

In terms of betting, however, this is a place to smell a possibly slightly weaker game for Boston.
