In mid-March, Catharina Araujo Andrade applied for a residence permit in the Netherlands for the first time. All those years before she lived and lived illegally in the Netherlands. Her mother has a Brazilian passport. Her biological father never acknowledged her. So the twenty-something herself has a Brazilian passport, just like her mother. The application is a risk. Expulsion to Brazil is imminent. But she sees it mainly as an opportunity. Finally a chance at a normal life.
