‘Not even in Ik Hou Van Holland!’

Jeroen Snel sticks to his criticism of Countess Eloise and her bathing suit. In fact, he thinks that the king’s niece should be curbed considerably. “I love Holland? Can’t either!”

The royalty connoisseur of RTL Boulevard, Jeroen Snel, does not care about the massive comment on his bathing suit criticism. He thinks Countess Eloise is going too far by appearing in a bathing suit on the TV show Het Perfecte Plaatje VIPS, but critics think it is not at all up to him to judge what she wears.

‘Too normal’

Does Jeroen regret? No, he responds in the broadcast from last night. He still thinks it’s a borderline case. “Yes, still. I wish Eloise all the best, she’s a sweet girl. I’ve never met her, but she’s twenty years old and she has to do what she likes and where she can happy is along. That provided.”

He continues: “But: it’s Countess Eloise, she’s part of the royal family, her uncle is our head of state, the king, and all in all it’s all getting a bit too ordinary. Too normal.”

I love Holland

According to him, Eloise needs to be restrained. “It’s not so much that bathing suit, but also if she would participate in Ik Hou Van Holland or another game show, for example. Then she becomes too much of an ordinary Dutchman and I think that the palace, the monarchy, should remain a fairy tale. We shouldn’t get to see too much from behind those walls.”

He continues: “It will all become normal. She almost exposes herself. Let’s hopefully agree on that and it should stay a bit like the fairy tale. The magical, the mysterious. I miss that a bit and that also fits in somewhat with the discussion that also concerns Willem-Alexander and Máxima. (…) That sometimes becomes a bit too ordinary.”

‘Fairy tales don’t exist’

Jeroen is answered in RTL Boulevard by Mandy Woelkens, editor-in-chief of LINDA. Girls. “You know, Jeroen, fairy tales don’t exist. I think: yes, it’s annoying for you that you find it difficult that your fairy tale is not quite right, but I totally support Eloise. Girl, put on your bathing suit, put on your bikini. Let her have fun!”

Their colleague Rob Goossens tweets: “After the staggering lack of arguments (ad hominems do not count) from our valued colleague Mandy Woelkens just in RTL Boulevard, I am all team-Jeroen Snel about swimsuit gate. And to think that just yesterday I thought: leave that countess alone.”

‘What nonsense!’

What do the men of VI say? Johan Derksen: “No, what nonsense that Reformed… Jeroen, yes! What is that man thinking?”

Hélène Hendriks: “There was nothing wrong with it! Of course that’s possible!”

Johan: “He shouldn’t walk around in his swimming trunks!”

René van der Gijp: “Fine, man. Very nice that that girl does that.”

Johan: “This is how you turn them into special people. Crazy creatures that are not allowed to walk in a bathing suit. What are people getting into?”

And Eloise’s father Prince Constantijn in Shownieuws: “I think it’s a nice episode. People are always looking for commotion. Otherwise nothing seems to be wrong.”
