FOOTBALL – With the help of Kjell Scherpen, Club Brugge, the club of Bas Dost, has again booked a victory in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. The reigning national champion defeated KV Oostende 1-3 and was helped a lot by the keeper from Emmen.
Scherpen was not exempt from Aargis Adamyan’s 1-2, who had already opened the score fifteen minutes earlier. He was especially credited with the third goal. He handled a shot so badly that the ball rolled into his own goal through his legs. That own goal brought the margin between Ostend and Bruges to two goals, which could no longer be made up.
Club Brugge, where Bas Dost was allowed to sit on the reserve bench for the entire game, is now in second place with 63 points. That is seven less than leader Union Saint-Gilloise. The play-offs will start in Belgium in three rounds in battle for the national title. KV Oostende is 14th.
