NOS and BBC leave Russia because new law “seems to criminalize independent journalism”, Nobel laureate newspaper takes war reports offline

The public broadcasters of the Netherlands and Great Britain are withdrawing their journalists from Russia. The decision comes after new legislation prohibits the reporting of “fake news” about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years. The Kremlin-critical ‘Novaya Gazeta’ also had to intervene because of censorship.
