The Norwegian Alexander Straus is the new coach of the Bundesliga soccer team at FC Bayern Munich.
the 46-year-old joins from Norwegian champions Sandviken TF/SK Brann, whom he led to the title for the first time in club history in 2021. Bayern did not provide any information about the contract period in Munich.
Straus succeeds Jens Scheuer, from whom the club parted after the disappointing pre-season. The Bayern women, second in the Bundesliga, not only had to admit defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the championship, but also conceded a 3-1 draw against their long-time rivals in the DFB Cup semifinals. In the Bundesliga it was even a 0:6 in Wolfsburg. In the Champions League, the Munich women failed in the quarter-finals at Paris Saint-Germain.
“As part of a big club like FC Bayern, our goal must always be to win every competition we enter,” Straus said on Monday. The new Munich coach, who was head coach of the Norwegian U23 and U19 women’s national team for several years, will start the pre-season with his team on July 18th.
