Norwegian company gets a license for salmon farming in Ostend

Animal rights organizations in particular submitted a notice of objection, but according to the deputation, the company pays sufficient attention to animal welfare.

The Norwegian Columbi Salmon still had to clarify a number of matters regarding nitrogen, the use of medicines and global water management, but has done so in the meantime. It will be licensed to farm and slaughter 12,000 tons of Atlantic salmon per year. The nursery will be located near the Plassendale 1 industrial area. The further processing of the fish will take place elsewhere.
