Norway star Röiseland advised husband to DSV job

Married and yet competitors: At Olsbu Röiseland, the new World Cup season in biathlon will reach completely new dimensions when Norway’s exceptional talent Marte Olsbu fights for podium places and her husband of all people prepares the German ski hunters. The 31-year-old still supports her husband 100 percent.

Sverre Olsbu Röiseland changed sides in the spring and joined the German Biathlon Association. Since then, the Norwegian has assisted head coach Kristian Mehringer in working with the DSV women around Olympic champion Denise Herrmann-Wick.

So he should help the German biathletes to beat their own wife in the World Cup.

The eleven-time world champion and three-time Olympic champion confessed in an interview with “biathlonworld.com“that the new constellation for the Olsbu Röiseland couple is “strange”. Nevertheless, she loves to compete against her husband. In addition, it was the overall World Cup winner of 2021/22 who recommended the new employer.

Marte Olsbu Röiseland continues biathlon career extra

“It was a great opportunity for him. When they asked him, he was a little unsure because he’s Norwegian and he wanted to coach Norwegian women. But this is the German senior team. I said to him: ‘You have to Take a job. You might never get another chance like that. We can handle the rest.'”

Marte Olsbu Röiseland also made it clear that this also influenced her own future in professional sports. “It’s actually one of the reasons why I decided to continue,” she confessed: “I really want to fight him in Oberhof (at the 2023 World Cup, editor’s note). I wonder what will happen , when I fight (for a medal) with one of the German girls…”, said the Norwegian.

Away from the biathlon world, however, the couple tries to lead a “normal family life”. “I don’t ask a lot about the other girls. He asks me more about how my workday was. He still helps me with training but we’re just trying to have a normal relationship.”
